On the 1st of October 1997 Captain Muazzam Ali Shaheed College of Computer Sciences opened with only seven 486 type personal computers. By the 31st of December 2004, the College had taken admissions of 879 students, both male and female. Courses are 100% free for students from low income families. The full rate of tuition for those students who can afford to pay is Rs. 500/-.

This rate is much lower than the majority of institutes in Jhelum. By the 31st of December 2004 Rs. 2,73,150 had been spent on providing concessional or free training to poor and low income students. The college places an emphasis on short courses for computer learning from introduction to medium level. Each course lasts from two to three months.
