Many areas of Jhelum city remain neglected and deprived. Within the city, free and low cost health service is out of reach for most poor people. There is only one fully fledged Government Civil Hospital, and several private hospitals serving an estimated population of 9,36,950. The cost of private hospitals is quite high as compared to those of the Civil hospital, which is where many deprived and frightened people go to see a doctor.

The Captain Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Council became a registered voluntary social welfare agency on the 26th of June 1996.

Most of the members who make up Captain Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Council have experience with the welfare activities undertaken within the Al-Qasim institute. Given the obvious needs within Jhelum, the Council decided to start a free/low cost hospital in the memory of Muazzam Shaheed and other key martyrs of Jhelum, like Akram Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) and Haq Nawaz Kiyani Shaheed (Sitar-e-Jura’at).

The Welfare Council, and all related staff are working towards the same aims and objectives
